Robertson Pools and Spas, owned by Bryan Robertson and Patsy Robertson, was established in 1982 and has been “Building Backyard Vacations” for more than 28 years.

The company began with the installation of the first in- ground pool at their home on Edmonton Road and the sale of pool chemicals out of the basement of the house.

In 1986, the first retail store was built on Greensburg Street in Columbia. In 1994, the company saw its first expansion in a new area of the retail market by opening a small branch in Somerset, and in 1996 expanded to a third location in Bowling Green.

For many years Robertson’s built in-ground and above ground residential pools in several counties in south central Kentucky. Each summer the company hired many local college students who later have become doctors, lawyers, teachers and public officials. The work was hard and hours were long but many still reminisce of their summer employment at Robertson’s.

As economic conditions changed Bryan saw an opportunity to move into the commercial market and, in 2003 began building commercial swimming pools in the hotel industry. Today, the company has shifted its focus to residential, vinyl and gunite, and commercial in- ground pools and spas. The entire backyard experience is now taken into consideration when building for the residential customer. Water features, special lighting, firepits, outdoor fireplaces and outdoor kitchens are all part of the company’s new focus. Robertson's currently operates two retail locations, 119 Kit Cowan Rd. in Somerset and 406 Jamestown St. in Columbia. Each retail location offers a complete line of chemicals including Baquacil, Relax, chlorine, bromine and Pristine Blue and everything you will need in the line of maintenance equipment.

Each store has Dynasty Spas on display and in 2008 Roberston’s placed a Dynasty spa on Dale Earnhardt, Jr.’s new houseboat. The commercial division of Robertson’s has quickly established itself as a premier builder of gunite pools and is currently involved in pool installations in Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana and West Virginia.
